Key Challenges
One of the primary challenges was designing a unified digital experience that could accommodate a wide range of departmental needs while maintaining clarity and ease of use. The scale of the content—from ever-growing sermon archives to real-time news updates—required a thoughtful approach to structure and usability. Another challenge was integrating these new designs within a custom, in-house CMS that powered the entire site.
Process and Approach
I partnered closely with Grace’s in-house development team to create a site architecture and UI that could scale with the church’s content demands. Special attention was given to the navigation and menu structure, ensuring users could quickly access the information they needed. The visual design drew from the recently refreshed Grace Today weekly bulletin, using matching typography, layout systems, and color palettes. We prioritized clean, timeless layouts with generous white space and minimal motion to keep the focus on content—particularly the rich imagery and teaching materials. The entire site was built on a custom 12-column grid, echoing traditional print design sensibilities while remaining fully responsive.
Outcome
The redesigned Grace Church website now reflects the visual identity of the organization while delivering a seamless and intuitive user experience. Visitors can easily explore ministry updates, register for events, stream live services, and access the vast teaching archive. The site remains an evolving platform, built to adapt as new content and needs arise, and continues to serve as a critical tool in Grace Community Church’s global ministry.
